Maria Kirilenko suffered a back injury and was forced to withdrew from the Korea Open.
Kirilenko said she hurt her back in practice and aggravated it in in the two games played against Lee So-ra in the opening round.
Kaia Kanepi beat Galina Voskoboeva 6-2, 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals while Kiki Bertens overcome Silvia Soler-Espinosa 1-6, 7-6 (3), 6-2.
First-round winners included Nadia Petrova, Tamira Paszek, and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez.
