Jankovic vs Oudin at AEGON Classic Monday final
Jelena Jankovic will face Melanie Oudin at the AEGON Classic final that will be played Monday at 11am.
Organisers have announced that anyone who brings tickets valid for Monday 11 June, Friday 15 June or Saturday 16 June (the days that were severely affected by the weather) will gain free entry into the final.
Other tickets will be available for £10 at the box office. Children will gain free entry. Gates open at 10am.
Jankovic beat Misaki Doi 6-3 6-4 in a quarter-final that took three days to finish because of rain, and then defeated Zheng Jie 6-7 7-5 6-1 in the semis.
"It's been a really difficult day at the office but a good one," Jankovic said. "You spend 12 hours at the site just watching the rain out of the window. Even when it stopped, I still saw the rain."
"I had to play five sets today, but the most important thing is I was able to win both matches and get to the finals," Jankovic said. "Against Zheng I was able to start playing more aggressively as the match went on. Especially in that third set, my fifth set of the day, I was striking the ball well, serving and returning well. I really felt like I had saved my best tennis of the day for last.
"If we played the final too I could have had seven or eight sets in one day. But I could probably have done it. I would still be standing."
Oudin completed victory over Irina Falconi 6-4 5-7 7-5 in the quarter-final before upseting Ekaterina Makarova 6-4 3-6 6-2.
Her place in the final has been rewarded by a wildcard into the Wimbledon draw.
"I've played six or seven matches in a row here now and I feel my confidence building with each one," Oudin said. "I've always loved playing on grass. I think my forehand is one of my biggest weapons and since I hit it so flat it goes through the court a lot on grass. Then I can slice my backhand and hit drop shots too, so I've always thought grass suits my game really well.
"I feel like I'm showing Top 50 tennis again. I hope to get back up there."
